SURAT RESULTS 2011 - 28.5% city students clear CA final
Over 400 students became chartered accountants (CAs) in the city after the announcement of the results of CA final on Tuesday. This year's results was on higher side compared to previous year.

In all, 1,192 students had appeared in the CA final examination in May 2011. In the first group, 242 students cleared while in the second 152 students were successful. A total of 747 students appeared in both the groups of whom 213 students were successful. The percentage of students clearing both the groups was 28.51 per cent.

In 2010, the percentage of students clearing both the groups was 17 per cent. Out of 617 students who had appeared in the exam then, 100 had cleared from both the groups. "Results of Surat branch is higher than last year in the western region, the result which is 20.51 per cent. Though 213 students had cleared both the groups, the number of students becoming CA is higher since there could be students who may have cleared the other group earlier. The total number of students becoming CA is more than 400 from Surat," said Harishanker Toshniwal, chairman of Surat branch of Western India Regional Council of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

The results of common proficiency test conducted in June 2011 were also announced. Out of 1925 students, who had appeared in CPT, 785 had cleared it. Around 40.78 per cent students cleared the exams. Among the toppers, Ankita Agarwal secured 35{+t}{+h} rank at the national level with 534 marks out of 800. Daughter of a textile businessman, she wants to do job to gain experience and later go for an MBA degree. She studied at J H Ambani School and did her graduation from SPB Commerce College. Agarwal is the only girl from Surat who is ranked among top 50 in the country.
